Terrible photos in incandescent or bright light!

I had an old Sony dinosaur that took 1280x640 photos, maximum quality. It weighed a ton and was a solid block 1/2 cubic foot of its own weight (so it seemed). So it was the BEST time to upgrade. So after seeing the great reviews for this camera and being happy with my previous one even though it was dated I happily ordered this one! God what a PAIN it was. We have incandescent bulbs, and no matter how many "automatic" settings I tried, I couldn't get images without a yellow cast. In addition, since we have a large family, the photos were constantly spoiled by a child running around, creating a large blurry area. It was terrible! So I did some research and changed some camera settings to improve shutter speed and other settings. I changed the white balance to get rid of the yellow cast (FINALLY!). However, it was very painful to constantly readjust the white balance before taking the picture. Some of the images were still blurry, but it was just about acceptable. Then I took it to my new daughter's christening and I did NOT get any good shots because of the light coming through the windows. I'm SO upset. I would use my DINOSAUR camera if I knew this brand new almost $200 camera couldn't take better photos! What good is a camera if you have to fiddle with the settings in front of everyone? Who has time to play around with this before your child's special occasion, at church, etc.? I am stunned by all the 5 star ratings for this item! So, to continue the saga, I took the camera to Best Buy to buy a new one. and see if I have a lemon. See, the camera worked well there under the neon lights. was still a bit washed out and the colors weren't quite right. Bought a new Nikon Coolpix S9100, took great pictures in store, brought it home and it's PERFECT. You point it at your kids, it takes great pictures. Then point it out the window at a bright light and it adjusts and comes out perfectly. Voila! Camera that works! Ironically, later that day I went to Sam's Club after Best Buy and guess what camera I saw there? It's Sony! And guess what he did as soon as I checked THAT in the store? Yes, blurry image and glare from Sam's door. How on earth did this camera get such good reviews?! Needless to say, I'm returning it even though I've already passed the 30 day window and probably won't get my full refund. Farewell, piece of garbage! It's pretty pathetic that you can't even take sharp pictures like the 10 year old Sony (that one also needs a 3.5" floppy just to show you how old it is! LOL)

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Not as thick as other tips
