I take my kids kayaking a few days a week. They have small six foot seated kayaks (kids 6 and 7 years old). They have been wanting to adopt a dog for a long time and finally we got hold of this life jacket and tried it out. The dog is a decent swimmer and the life jackets help a bit, but stay out of the way enough not to disturb him while he's swimming (my main concern with a decorative life jacket). I keep her on a leash and walk/waddle in the shallow water where my kids are kayaking. I haven't tried a dog in my own kayak yet, but that would be the next step.
