Review on πŸ”Š Micca RB42-C: Dark Walnut Center Channel Bookshelf Speaker - Premium Audio with 4-Inch Woofers and Silk Tweeter by Katrina Coniglio

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good sound for the money but cuts off high frequencies too much for my liking.

This is a great little center channel speaker. Well built and appears heavy and strong. I used to have a 90's JBL speaker but the rings were falling apart and as I was never entirely happy with it as it didn't have a crossover I decided it was time to upgrade it rather than refurbish it. I like this speaker, but in trying to cut off the harsh, penetrating high frequencies, they were too aggressive and clipped the high frequencies too much. I like the fact that you know you're hearing more that ear pops high on s and the like in speech, but I think it could have been achieved with a slightly less aggressive crossover setting. Sure, the description mentions how they set up the crossover, but it's more aggressive than I imagined. I will say that for a center channel of this size and price this thing can actually put out some pretty impressive low frequencies (bass). Two other things I don't like are the magnets that attach to the grille and the lack of a badge attached to the grille. It would probably be just as cheap and much more durable to use grill pins. My grill has fallen off once or twice. And like I said, they don't put the name on the grille either, they give you glue on the badge to do it yourself. Great if you want an empty grill but I would have preferred it professionally attached. I'm deducting 1 star for the overly aggressive height cut and grill, but I'd still recommend this speaker to anyone on a budget like mine. There's no doubt you can get better sound, but only if you can shell out at least double or more for it.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • I won't say anything
