Black marks on the cups and hydrophobic coating
The structure of these measuring cups is pretty good, as is the accuracy (for ingredient measuring cups). The first problem is that the cups arrived with black dirt: it looks like grease or tar (but it's hard to say for sure without testing). The second issue is that the cups appear to be coated with a hydrophobic compound (one that cannot be easily removed by mechanical and/or chemical cleaning), meaning they are unlikely to be (1) clean (2) by the FDA approved (3) food safe are (4) free of unknown chemicals.
