When you remove the old filter, look at the filter and note which side has all the bugs, dirt, hair, sand and debris on it. The outside air comes from this side. The air flow goes from the dirty side through the filter to the clean side of the filter. The filter I received has an arrow that says "Airflow". The filter must be installed with the arrow pointing in the direction *with* the airflow. In my case I have a 2018 Prius Prime, the OEM filter had an arrow pointing "this side up". It doesn't say "airflow". It should also not be confused with airflow. The OEM doesn't play with airflow, it doesn't force you to calculate airflow. All you have to do is install it with the up arrow. The arrow just indicates how to install it. Take it out of the box and place it in the "this side up" tray. So let's summarize. My factory filter had an UP arrow. I installed this DOWN arrow filter! Since this is a 42,144 rating, I have no idea if this advice will be useful to anyone. But I will say, the filter fits perfectly, looks good, I will buy another one on the shelf. I'll probably write myself a note and put it in the package so I can install it properly and stop thinking about that airflow. Ha!
