Nice looking unit. Small problems at the beginning but it works.

First, the dock is very well built. I especially like that the power button is on the front where it should be. Still, I found the USB 3 cable a bit short, but it can be used. After connecting to my Dell Optiflex 990 I thought I was done. That didn't happen. When installing 650GB, 1TB, and 2TB (separate) drives in the front or rear slot and turning on the device, the hard drive was sometimes not recognized. These aren't new hard drives, but they're not voracious either. Also, it comes with a 4 amp power adapter, so you should be fine. The memory card slots show up right away in my drive list, but the hard drives are having issues. I had to go into Windows Disk Management, delete the existing partitions and recreate them. Then I would try to do a quick format. Again no luck. Windows (Windows 10) reports that the hard drive cannot be formatted - there are no other reasons for the error. After trying this a few times, I finally recognized the 2TB drive. I haven't removed it since then. It seems to work best when I turn on the device, then turn on the computer and let it boot. Since I use this to back up my files, it's not critical, but it's important for it to work reliably. So far everything seems to be working fine after overcoming the initial formatting issue. I like the two extra USB charging ports on the top. This is a great place to set up my cell phone on my computer. The two bottom USB ports work very well. I haven't had any problems with them. I wanted to try a standard USB cable and be satisfied with USB 2 performance, but since I have a device that works with the USB 3 cable that came with it, I will continue to use it unless I encounter new problems. The only other issue I've seen is that when you first open the drive, it takes a while for the files window to show the contents of the drive. Once this is done, the content will be displayed quickly from then on. Without these little things, the rating would have deserved 5 stars. I'm still happy with the results and the purchase, but would like to know why the device has so many problems recognizing the installed drive and displaying the contents when the file window is first opened on the mapped drive.
