Review on ๐Ÿ•๏ธ Toaks Light Titanium 550ml Pot - Enhanced Version for Ultralight Outdoor Enthusiasts by John Cox

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ti mug with lid!

From what I've gathered, this mug was once a popular item called "BPL 550 Firelite" when BPL had their own line of gear and is now sold under the Trade Toaks brand becomes. Assuming it is the same, he has many followers. This is a great little pot for the solo hiker. I bought this to complement my Snow Peak Mini Solo Combo which is a bit oversized at 700ml and I've still never used the tumbler that came with it. I had trouble finding a 500ml pot because it's a large mug of this size and they don't usually have lids. But alas, Toaks 550ml with lid! For a small facility where all you do is boil water for pre-packaged dehydrated foods and the occasional hot beverage, this is ideal. With a capacity of 550ml you can drink from it like a mug without being too big (unlike my 700ml Snow Peak) but still big enough to boil the required amount of water for a meal. I usually use the Mountain House Pro Pack which uses 14 oz/414 ml of water so this pot hits the spot for them. Normal MH options use 16 oz / 473 ml so it will still be good! For visual reference, 500ml brings the water to about 1/2 inch from the top. As mentioned, its size allows you to comfortably fit a 100 gram can of fuel inside and place a pot at the bottom of a 1 liter bottle of Nalgene. Good space-saving properties. Compared to the Snow Peak product, the metal can be soooo thin but barely noticeable and I think that makes the pot lighter. I like the vents in the lid to let off steam and the handles on mine fit snugly so they dangle instead of dangling. The tote bag is good but not the zipper which is difficult to open. I probably won't be using the bag in the field anyway. Those differentiators aside, this is a small titanium pot that performs as intended. Weight for this ounce counter: Pot, Lid, Bag: 2.9 ounces Pot, Lid: 2.5 ounces Pot: 1.9 ounces
