Buy 1 first to try, even at extra cost. These bulbs work and fit without incident, but their performance is very disappointing for three reasons. . First, the darkest setting is very bright. maybe 3-4 times brighter than the bulbs they replaced, making them unusable in our dining room and family room/home theater. Second, they take quite a bit of time to turn on. sometimes a few seconds. We have 10 in the big room, 4 on one counter, 6 on the other. Switching on causes each bulb to light up individually for a few seconds. This effect appears to diminish after the lightbulbs are lit, but returns after a relatively short period of inactivity. This is very annoying. Every lightbulb in our house is now LED (about three dozen or more if you count the candelabra in the ceiling fans), and these are the only lightbulbs that don't turn on instantly. Third, I'm pretty sure (not really sure) that there's a slight but noticeable hum. (You need to verify this issue yourself.) At first I thought it was a switch because I didn't know LED lights can make noise, but it's not a switch. I haven't tested extensively so I'm not sure yet if the noise isn't coming from the lights, but none of the other LED bulbs we have make that kind of noise.
