This is a very strong, bright lamp with a distinct ionic odour. In fact, I prefer ion lamps because you know it's safe to return to the room once the ion smell is gone. It also smells different from ions than from a thunderstorm. This definitely smells more like an industrial clean room. Maybe that's why some people gave it bad reviews. We bought this to reduce a mold problem behind our knee wall on our 3rd floor. We sprayed a Concrobium mold killer and used that lamp in conjunction with a vacuum machine, and it cost less than a quarter of what the company would do with it (only $2,000 for demolition).
