I had an empty slot that could fit a suitable 4GB RAM module. I have an HP SLimline 290-P0043W that my family uses exclusively for web browsing. It's perfect for this use, but we need more memory speed as I like to keep windows open and we often have multiple Chrome accounts open at the same time - they just minimize while one person is using the computer. Let's face it, the 4GB it came with just didn't make it. Add that extra 4GB and power on the machine and the system booted up and recognized the module with no issues. On Windows 10 I went to Settings->System->About->In the About section, the installed RAM was automatically switched from 4GB to 8GB. With the Slim series, you need to turn off your computer, remove the cover and front plastic panel, optical drive and optical drive metal frame just to access the RAM slot. It's easier than you'll thank, but check out the youtube video first before trying it on this model, there's a lot of good stuff in there and through.
