Review on CasaCam Wireless Security Nightvision Touchscreen by Matt Eason

Update - After 14 months of use, the tablet restarted about every 20 minutes. No longer connects to the internet. Locally tracked and recorded with breaks in coverage after reboot. For the price it might still be worth it considering it's been working great for over a year. Original post - All in all a very good camera system that does everything I need. Setup was easy. Each camera requires a wired power supply, so I had to buy extension cords for each camera to get to the outlets. Day shots are very clear. The touchpad works well and is intuitive. By the way, to force the tablet into the screensaver mode without having to constantly look at the image, quickly press the button at the top of the screen. It wasn't in the manual. I've set the system to record continuously and it takes about five days for the SD card to fill up and overwrite the oldest recording. It also records audio, which is really good. I could actually hear people talking on the street 60 feet away from me. Motion detection works well. It turns on the screen when in screensaver mode and sends you notifications when connected to the internet. Internet connection requires an Ethernet connection and uses the MyCamView application. Installation wasn't too difficult. This application allows me to remotely view camera videos through my phone. It bounces a bit, but gives you a frame-by-frame view of what's going on (my internet speed isn't that fast). Motion detection is very good and also sends an alert when the system is connected to the internet. The only real downside is the night vision. It's quite grainy and pure black and white. It's functional, but I also have a Uniden camera system that gives clearer nighttime color images; it is also a much more expensive system. So a very good overall system that will benefit from better night vision. I'll probably buy another one, but can upgrade to VS1002 for a better night vision camera.
