Difficult to install due to wiring

I bought these to replace the parking lights for my RV. The cables for the connection run through the rear panel closer to the edge and not in the middle. There is no cutout to accept wires for mounting in the center wire hole. I had to use a file to cut a mark in the plastic backing to attach it flush. They seem to work well, but I've never seen lights like this with anything other than a center wire. There is a picture of the wires coming out, I just assumed the edge was high enough to put the wires where I need them. The design just looks weird.
