Review on Totally Bamboo Storage Magnetic Engraved by Andy Baudoin

I've wanted a salt can for a long time, ever since I saw Elton Brown use it to sprinkle kosher salt on everything. I like her looks; The laser engraving on the top is well centered and deep enough. By sufficient depth, I mean that the word "SALT" on the lid isn't just laser blackened at the top, it's actually "carved" out of bamboo. easy to use with one hand. One thing I mentioned in other reviews is the chemical smell in the box. When I got mine, the first thing I did was sniff inside. The only thing I noticed was a very faint finish smell. I suspect it was coated in polyurethane (which is food safe), although I'm not sure. I literally laid it face down on the counter and when I checked after 5 minutes the finish smell was gone. The instructions say it needs to be fully washed and dried before sprinkling with salt, which I did. Even after drying after washing, there is still no smell. I originally bought this for kosher salt when cooking, since I'll put the salt in my hand anyway when seasoning my food. I just have way more control with my fingers than with a shaker. This box just saved me from having to throw salt in my hand first. I've actually been using it at the table since I bought it, again due to the better control compared to a salt shaker. I really like my first salt shaker; I wish I had bought one a year ago.
