Review on 🏍️ HJC CS-2N Motorcycle Helmet by Douglas Davis

Let me start by saying that I am new to motorcycles and this is the first helmet I have bought so take it for what it is worth. I chose this helmet because I wanted a low profile black helmet that had an open face with a removable ear/neck curtain. Of course, safety is an important factor, but I didn't want to spend a fortune on my first helmet only to find out I wanted a different style. Overall I am satisfied with this helmet and I share my opinion and experience. The finish is a very nice flat black that is easy to clean. Insect spray is very easy to remove, even after repeated cleaning and prolonged use, the coating does not wear off and does not shine in places. Also, the HJC decal on the front is a vinyl decal and can be easily removed for those of you who are interested. The helmet is DOT certified, has a good lining and is very comfortable. The walls (shell and foam) are quite thick so they felt huge when you first put them on. A little more than I expected, but safety comes at a price. There are two vents on the front of the helmet on the forehead to help with ventilation. The included visor is pretty much useless in my opinion, but it ruins the look of the helmet and helps direct some air through the vents. Headphones are useful in cold weather. The earbuds aren't snug enough to still hear well, but at speed the wind is pretty loud, and most importantly, a few bugs got into the ear pocket. Of course, that makes you stop and shake them out. This is probably not a disadvantage with this helmet, but it is still worth mentioning. As for sizing, there is a size chart on the manufacturer's website. I used the method they describe to measure my head and the resulting helmet fits perfectly. A very simple process. The chin strap gets the job done and slides easily through the D-rings when tightening the helmet. There is also a clasp to keep the end of the strap from dangling in the wind. My only complaint is that the strap sits a little on the back of my neck and not under my chin so it irritates my Adam's apple at times. Not a big issue, but worth commenting nonetheless. All in all, this helmet is worth the money.
