Review on LG 27GL650F B Ultragear Monitor: 1080p, 144Hz, Adaptive Sync, HDR, Flicker Free by Tim Hoskins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Arguably the best 1080p gaming monitor

I love IPS panels. Their color accuracy and range are incredible and they look more realistic compared to TN. Although the display says 1ms, it is important to know that NO IPS can run at 1ms. However, as someone who has played TN panels before, I can hardly tell the difference. So it's nice that this IPS monitor is incredible. It comes pre-calibrated from the factory so you don't have to, and it looks fantastic. it blew my mind on my old IPS monitor I was using; The sRGB range of 99% is incredible. And I think that's why it looks good at 1080p even though it's 27 inches tall. It has free sync and most notably G-Sync. In combination with my 3700x and GTX1080, every game looks smooth and lag-free. As I said, this monitor is not 1ms but more like 4-6, it has a blur reduction feature but don't use it. It adds halos to your images and makes jerky movements obnoxious. Don't use it with either Free-Sync or G-Sync, so it's pointless. At least for me, this monitor comes with 120Hz out of the box. If you're using an Nvidia GPU, make sure it's set to 144Hz in the Control Panel. Speaking of which, I was able to overclock this thing to 255Hz, your mileage will vary, but this thing surprised me (it's also worth noting that people seem to get a message if you overclocked the refresh rate too high. I' that has is never happened to me) A high refresh rate is cool, especially in FPS. and in my experience it even helped me aim better. It comes with HDR, but not for HDR. If you want to experience HDR, look elsewhere. It's not 4k, it only has an 8-bit panel instead of 10-bit, and it only has a peak brightness of 350 nits. You need 1000 for HDR. All in all, this is an incredible monitor. The only thing I would strongly recommend that you do after setting everything up (except setting the refresh rate) is to turn off the black stabilizer. My default value was 70 and black images looked more like gray. I set mine to 5 so I just experimented with that.
