When I first started breastfeeding in the hospital I was given a Medela cream to use before and after breastfeeding. They just gave me a small sample tube and when it was ready I started using this Lansinoh cream that I bought before giving birth. Medela cream is much softer and easier to apply, but when I read the label I realized it's not 100% lanolin. All you have to do is rub the Lansinoh cream between your fingers before applying to soften it. The only thing I don't like about this cream is that it's difficult to squeeze out of the tube in cold weather. Sometimes it's VERY hard to express yourself. In addition, the tube does not have a screw cap. I tried removing the cap to make squeezing out the cream easier but then I couldn't put it back on and I was left with an open tube that I could never keep closed. If you can get your hands on the cream it is a great product and very helpful, especially during the first few months of breastfeeding.
