Review on ☕ Bodum Brazil Black French Press Coffee and Tea Maker, 34 oz by Matthew Marquez

Broke after 10 months

When I first used this French press I was satisfied. The glass is thick enough for normal use. The piston can be easily dismantled for cleaning. And of course good coffee (like in every French Press). But after 10 months of use, about twice a week, the piston broke. A small plastic retainer on the underside of the piston stem stripped its threads and no longer held the filter screen and spring plate in place, rendering the entire system useless. I looked at the guarantee on the Revain page for this item and actually laughed out loud. The guarantee is only valid for 30 days and only if the product has never been used. Well it's a joke! A warranty that does not cover a product found defective on first use. So if you're only buying this device to keep it in the box for 30 days, this guarantee is for you! Luckily, there's an easy fix for a broken plastic mount. Go to your local hardware store and purchase an M5-0.8 stainless steel hex nut. Screw it into the bottom of the plug stem and then screw the plastic retainer back in place. This prevents the plastic retainer from sliding up the piston stem, holding the filter screen and spring plate in place. (See photo)
