Review on Rectorseal Aspen Mini 83939 Condensate Pump, White - 100-250V by Roy Niemeyer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

TO UPDATE! (05/08/19 - Another crash) Very reliable and easy to install, but a bit noisy.

Update (05-08-19): My two Rectorseal 83939 Aspen mini pumps (I have two) stopped working properly again. Checked the drain hoses, they're clean. And no, the drain line is not too high for the pump, it meets the specifications that all mini split condenser pumps claim. We had a very mild winter and sometimes some days it got so hot that my heat pumps (mini splits) had to be switched to AC mode. The pumps worked perfectly until two weeks ago. I currently use a 5 gallon condensate bucket (yes, I know what a ghetto is, but I've put off buying additional pumps until I find a better solution). That last bug (on both, on different days, but for about two weeks) was bad. The pumps were still "running" so they never tripped the mini-splits to shut down. So water is everywhere. Love it. I just love swapping floors! I like the mini split heat pump. I think these are fantastic inventions that save $$$ on utility bills, but if you can't install on an outside wall, just don't! Despite all the energy and consumption savings over the years, they killed it by letting me replace a condensation damaged floor. (I go back to the waterproof floor). I don't know what to do next. I thought of an ingenious way to install a drain line to allow gravity to hit an outside wall or somehow tie to my drain lines. but it would be just as difficult if not impossible without overcomplicating everything! I just have to get used to buying and replacing them every two years before they fail! I swear I don't know anything else. Update (6/29/17): Well, I've just received a warranty replacement for a 'different brand' condensate pump. I've had two replacements on their internal model and now one on an external one like this one I'm evaluating. sorry EDC. That's it. Your pumps are incredibly quiet while moving more volume very quickly, but your pumps keep failing. Yes, in the last part I speak to the manufacturer's competitor (Rectorseal), EDC International. If this is indeed something I'm doing wrong, consider that the Aspen Mini outlived the other (EDC Limpet). I think I know why EDC isn't sold on Revain. Because they know that you are not wasting your hard-earned money and labor by reading genuine reviews of their products (replacing these pumps can put a lot of strain on your air conditioner's plastic casing, leading to unwanted and unnecessary wear and tear on the air conditioner itself). / Evaporator). Okay, all in all feel free to buy this if you need a mini split condensate pump. Upgrade to 5 stars. (fluffy side:) and place the entire back of the vibration/silencing device or other soft object that absorbs vibration). then give this Aspen Mini 5 stars too :-) One last thing. If you can help, instead of dealing with ANY condensate pumps, try installing a mini-split evaporator/fan on an outside wall for gravity feed, through the outside wall to drain the condensate out. but if you have the same case as me and don't have a choice, get the Aspen Mini now! July, America's Independence Day! to all my countrymen! God bless and be safe :-) (Original review starts here :) This thing works fantastic. It looks like it will work flawlessly for years to come. My only complaint is that it's a bit noisy compared to other condensate pumps I've used (except when they start to fail - I mean others). ). I'm surprised the manufacturer hasn't redesigned this pump to fit a self-adhesive silencer pad (supplied with the pump) behind the entire unit, as I think this will reduce most vibration and noise. I have two mini split systems, both with an air diffuser/evaporator mounted on an interior wall, forcing me to fit condensing pumps. I have used the built in pumps mounted on the back of the air handler/vaporizer since I first installed them, but these pumps are not filtered and are not easily accessible even if they were. Lack of filtration causes the pump to fail every time, which is why the Aspen pump is so great. The Aspen Mini is very affordable and the screen/filter can be easily pulled out and cleaned. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a reliable condensate pump for their mini split system. (For comparison and backup purposes, I ordered and installed a different brand external condensate pump on my other unit. It takes up less space and is very, very quiet. I will come back to update this review and make a comparison over time to deliver , and will mention its brand name later.Right now I'd rather not say which one because I don't have a solid argument for it yet as it uses a different mechanism to actuate itself rather than a float system like the Aspen .and if so i will say it in my review as soon as it turns out to be true.the other one i am not sure about either as the water that goes into the water is not filtered by the tank.but by the pump itself, which means that the electrical contacts that turn the pump on can become fouled over time and affect pump performance, but this can be a moot point in, but I'll come back and update my review of this and that at a later date.)

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
