Review on Durable and Dependable: Rugged Ridge 16595.35 Heavy Duty Differential Cover for Dana 35 by Christopher Bates

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Heavy duty but trouble!

Item received quickly and as described. This is an impressive cast steel cover that looks great on my jeep. The problem I have is that they include 10-5mm hex head screws (hex key) for installation which are not suitable for this application. According to my service manual; Torque these differential bolts to 30 lbs. Good luck with it! My torque wrench is 1/2" drive, I use an adapter and a 5mm allen key (hex key). The bolts break and they just aren't ideal for torque specs. Unfortunately, my RTV is already installed and I'll have to get up next time I change the diff Revert to serial screws. Liquid. Oh wait! I can't because the cover is thicker and I need long screws. Should I find the screws I want or return them? It's not interesting to return it, first you have to remove it from the jeep New transmission oil, RTV and time is $40 I hope I can find the bolts **Update** I found replacement bolts, 5/16-18x1 My project is complete but it wasn't interesting to remove the broken bolts. I spoke to Rugged Ridge customer service and they did not offer any help regarding this. The agent agreed that the bolts were not designed for this application suitable and said he would record the conversation.
