They seem to work BUT be aware there is a catch: hooks add extra height to the hook so the line needs to be lower than a regular hook or it will stick out. But the problem is that you also have to put the wire on the hook and if you only have a small gap behind the painting (because you had to use less wire) it can be difficult. You may need a second pair of hands, and small hands really help. Another thing to consider is that the hook is only as strong as the wall it's drilled into. I was sure the wire wouldn't come loose from the hook, but I could probably get a screw out of some types of walls.
