Review on 📸 Sunpak PF30XN i-TTL Flash for Nikon Digital SLR Camera by Bob Candfield

I rated it 4/5 because of some issues. WARNING! It cannot be used off-camera. Beginners looking for a cheap flash look elsewhere. It's TTL only, with no manual or slave modes, and there's no way to disable the pre-flash to trigger optical slaves. Nobody told me about it and I wish I knew. First things first, this lens is great for beginners and photographers who just want to aim and shoot. This is also one of its downsides and I would like someone to post this information before I bought it. Pros: - It's fully i-TTL. That's why it's perfect for just looking at something and lighting it up. With decent rechargeable batteries, it has a good charge time. The head tilts 90 degrees so it can be used for top bouncing (or side bouncing when shooting vertically). CONS - Simplicity. Design limits all sorts of things. WARNING! I bought some optical slaves to use with different flashes and they didn't work (obviously) as they ONLY use i-TTL. Unless you have a very expensive TTL wireless trigger (e.g. a $500 flexible setup in the Pocket Master) this is unreliable or even impossible for off-camera results. +1.5 - With normal batteries you don't get more than 20-40 clicks before the update stops, and after a few minutes on my first test it took over a minute to update at the lowest EV setting. - Also not slow - synchronization settings. Another thing I wanted to use this for was the 1/8000 electronic shutter capabilities with my old D40, it wasn't well lit at 1/8000 leaving one side of my model dark. Overall I agree with all the good and some bad. If you can get it for less than $50, it's worth it.
