They are truly unique. When I received it, I was a bit skeptical at first. They smelled like you're walking into a thrift store and I'm not sure if it's burlap and just a coincidence or if they were actually made from thrift jeans. In any case, I sprayed them with white vinegar until they were damp and let them dry in the sun. They feel durable and are tightly woven, but I don't think I would wash them regularly. Hand wash or gentle cycle on low/no spin and hang dry to retain their shape and not tear your jeans enough to stick together like rugs. I learned my lesson with my previous jute napkins. I love the different shades of blue that complement the granite table. I would definitely buy again and may even need to get the rugs they offer.
