Most programming toys consist of learning how to follow instructions and perform various tasks by inputting (programming) work steps. This toy is no different, but Kinderbot is way more versatile than some of the other simple toys we've played with. This robot has three buttons that offer different game modes: independent coding, challenges and secret codes. Designed for free play, the code button allows kids to customize their own robot walking patterns with up to ten directional arrow gestures (forward, backward, left, and right). During the process, Kinderbot is very talkative and sociable. He repeats what the child has programmed and takes every step. The call button is just a call button: Kinderbot gives children coding instructions to set up, and when some sequences are completed successfully, Kinderbot makes the next command a little more complicated. It's our kids' favorite button because the kids bot makes a robotic beep, plays lots of fun music and dances to every correct setting. This toy comes with a booklet of secret codes and some extra tools (planer, axle, wheel and wedge). The third button implements the booklet and tools - children must recreate the stepping patterns they see in the code book. Six drawings in the brochure depict the forms of the Kinderbot, four show early technical concepts (lever, ramp, swing, obstacle course) and the last six codes are just for fun (shark fin, tap dancer, saxophone, etc.). What makes this toy so appealing is the Kinderbot itself - no matter which mode button is pressed, it's full of friendly conversation, frantic movements and enthusiastic robotic assistance. This is a very fun way to learn more or less concepts, numbers, colors, shapes and technical basics. Our four-year-old twins love this adorable robot, but their seven-year-old brother also plays with Kinderbot, making it suitable for all ages. Good that there is a button for quiet/loud/off. The video shows what happens when you enter the secret code for the square.
