Unpacked this mattress with no problems. I slept on it for a few hours after unpacking it. It wasn't quite fluffy yet and felt incredibly deep. After a full few days of fluff, very comfortable. I lost my newest (thinner) foam mattress to having to put a heavy foam pad underneath it because it was uncomfortable on my 5" spaced futon. The extra dense foam led to moisture build-up and mold growth. This mattress is much thicker and easily covers those gaps. Even when sitting, I don't feel the bars. So I eliminated the extra foam rubber and the mattress should breathe normally. It's very comfortable, not too warm. This is my perfect bed. I slept on it for about a month. I have never tried folding a futon into a sofa.
