My dachshund wants to go swimming with his golden retriever friend but can't stay afloat for more than a few seconds. Bought on a whim and so glad I did! He's now like a little fish with his vest buttoned up and keeps his head above the water at all times. The handle on the back is great for rescuing (if he got a little cocky and swimming down rapids, for example) and there's also a strong leash hook if you want your dog tethered for safety. That seems to come in handy as he ran the trails with them with no issues. The only downside is that I had to tighten the waist straps so tight I had to cut off the extra length so he wouldn't trip over them, but the XS didn't fit at all. He weighs 13 pounds and wears a size small.
