The cat plays best with the rug in Cats

We bought rugs so the cat couldn't climb under the tree. After spreading the mats around the tree, he first walked and jumped directly onto the spikes and lay down on them. It didn't scare him at all. Then he lies down and bites the thorns. Then he sticks his head under the spikes and crawls under them like a blanket. Needless to say, the mats don't work.
