It has a writing/work area and a generous monitor area. The keyboard drawer allows him to use the helm more efficiently than his previous work/play area. Two points to note: The keyboard drawer is large enough to make the keyboard lighter - no room for a mouse and no pilot holes for the brackets holding the corner section to the straight section, but as others have pointed out, it seems Being that way works well and is sufficiently stable, so not using brackets is not a problem
