Review on Baofeng Tri Power 136 174MHz 400 520MHz Portable by Maurice Harvey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent value for money at a small price.

I really like this radio. I have two Baofeng UV-5R radios and for the money they are a great investment. The UV-82HP is more of a business radio. I have a Nagoya NA-24J antenna which has a gain of about 2dB and combined with 8 watts of power this radio opens up far away repeaters. Another cool feature of this radio is the PTT buttons. There are two, one above and one below. If you have two different frequencies, pressing the top PTT button will transmit on the top frequency on the display, and pressing the bottom PTT button will transmit on the frequency shown at the bottom of the display. You can very easily disable this feature if you don't like it. The UV82HP sounds good, not tinny or weak. I have three Icom VHF radios and two Yaesu Vertex UHF radios that cost over $200 each. The UV-82HP works so well I bought a second one from Revain sold by TIDRADIO MALL and it came with a speaker mic, second battery, programming cable and software CD. There is a charger and a belt clip. There are also two antennas. One is a standard Rubbente and the other is NA-771. All this for $48. The radio itself costs $39. Whether you're starting out in amateur radio or looking to add another radio to your cabin, THIS is a must buy!
