Excellent camera, cheap lens

I bought this camera to replace an old fully manual Minolta film DSLR. I used to take photos for the school yearbook, but now photography is just a hobby and I take a lot of quick shots for work. I got it almost a year ago and I love the camera and the Sigma 70-300mm lens that came with it, but I get a much better image quality with the Sigma lens, the kit lens just takes good pictures, me would suggest buying a case and get the best lens to start with rather than buying a complete lens to replace later. I was very impressed with the anti-shake feature, which allows me to shoot freely in low light with a shutter speed of 0.5-1s and still get decent photos. This camera has excellent battery life in my opinion, with 2500mah rechargeable batteries I can usually take around 800 photos if I don't use the screen to view pictures that much and don't let the batteries run out as they're a lot to waste seem strength from sitting. Autofocus is good when you have enough light, but you can turn it off when there is very little light. Not sure how it compares to other DSLRs as this is my first auto focus camera. The automatic aperture and shutter speed mode works to get a decent photo, which is what my camera is set to take most of the time, but sometimes the image is just a little underexposed. Overall color is pretty good, but sometimes you may need Photoshop to improve contrast and brightness. I've never had to reduce the contrast on this camera, but I often have to add it, but it's an easy fix on a computer. When you buy memory cards, there is a noticeable difference between standard cards and Extreme III cards. I have all Extreme cards, but my grandfather uses Ultra 2. I would recommend getting at least an Ultra 2 card and not bothering with a standard card. The speed of the camera is pretty decent for consecutive shots, you can take 5 consecutive shots without having to wait between shots at the highest quality, unlike point and shoot cameras that take a few seconds to get the next shot make. Overall I would recommend this camera to anyone looking to get into photography for fun or a hobby as it is a great camera for the price. You can offer more, but unless you work for a big magazine company, why spend the extra hundreds of dollars on a slightly better photo? Great camera, just need a better lens.
