6 beautiful megapixels

No wonder reviewers talk so much about the picture quality of this camera, it really is that good. Obviously I'm really impressed with this camera, but for good reason. It's inexpensive, includes built-in jitter reduction, and better yet, it actually produces fantastic images. I haven't tried zooming beyond 8x10, but I suspect that with a little work on my part, this camera could produce much larger prints. Despite the megapixel race in the DSLR market leading to higher and higher qualityโ€ฆ

A word of caution

There is no point in repeating what has already been said about this camera. This is a great camera - and a really great camera at an affordable price. But with one major caveat: it doesn't support an SD memory card larger than 2GB. But that's not bad news: The bad news is how difficult it is to find an SD memory card with only 2GB of storage. It doesn't even need a 4GB SD card. By pure coincidence I ended up with a 2 GB card. But I decided to get more. At first glance you will almost certainly

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time

  • Almost everything is there

Excellent DSLR, very easy to use, feels good in hand

I have an old Pentax KX SLR (film camera) that I don't want to sell. I bought it used over 20 years ago and it still works great but now that I have the K100D it mostly sits in a drawer. I got the K100D because I can use my old KX lenses with it. That is very cool. If that doesn't prove to you that Pentax is a great company that loves its loyal customers, I don't know what will. Many people are stuck in the Canon/Nikon world. They make great cameras too, but I'll stick with my Pentax. It doesโ€ฆ

Excellent camera, cheap lens

I bought this camera to replace an old fully manual Minolta film DSLR. I used to take photos for the school yearbook, but now photography is just a hobby and I take a lot of quick shots for work. I got it almost a year ago and I love the camera and the Sigma 70-300mm lens that came with it, but I get a much better image quality with the Sigma lens, the kit lens just takes good pictures, me would suggest buying a case and get the best lens to start with rather than buying a complete lens toโ€ฆ

  • Best in its niche

  • Long delivery time

Best value for money in the entry-level DSLR market.

When I was looking for an entry level DSLR I came across the K100D and ended up buying it. I don't regret what I did. While the Pentax doesn't have the market share of Canon or Nikon, it's probably the best value entry-level DSLR out there. Here are some pros and cons of this camera: Pros: * Large size - not too big, not too small. Fantastic grip and trigger position. * Very durable construction. Feels much better in hand than the Rebel XT/XTi.*In-Body IS. This is the main trump card of thisโ€ฆ
