Review on Higoo Universal Camera Flash Hot Shoe Rail Adapter - 20mm for Optics Scope Sight: An SEO-friendly Upgrade! by Kevin Hawkins

Fits VERY tight but solved my problem

I recently bought a laser sight off eBay to attach to my DSLR to help aim the camera for astrophotography. Most of the time I'm aiming for objects that are too far away and/or too dark to see with the naked eye or through a camera, so a laser is a great option as I can just aim the laser beam up at the sky with the stars . and constellations I can see much more clearly just by looking at the sky than through a viewfinder. I had the right part to attach the laser to my camera but I needed the part to connect to the hot shoe and that was it and it worked fine. A few minor downsides to this. The laser groove tolerances are VERY VERY TIGHT. I literally had to get the other piece as far as my hands could reach to get it in place. Also, I found that the screw that attached the rail to the hot shoe mount was completely loose after it was installed, which meant that after all that peeking and adjusting, the laser wobbled a lot, forcing me to undo everything I just did and disassembled it to get to the screw and secure it. Finally, I think it's just a fact of life, but I seem to have to recalibrate/align the laser's point of aim to the center of my camera's point of aim every time I remove the assembly from the hot shoe mount. It somehow fails every time, sometimes to a very small extent and sometimes much worse. I think the screw I should have tightened before won't stay tight for long and it's going to be quite a pain to do this every time I switch to a new topic or every time I go outside. set up. But it does what I need and after trying to make my own connector for 3 weeks this is a MUCH better solution at a pretty low price. I'm not dancing a jubilant jig, I'm humming a happy tune that works for me.
