This drive is very fast and installation was easy. This is a bit off, but it's important to note that it uses 4K sectors and doesn't have 512 byte (512e) emulation. This little detail took me over 12 hours to figure out how to get the drive to work with what I needed to do with it (cloning my OS and encrypting it). With a clean install, this shouldn't be a problem. However, disk cloning is a problem because you need a cloning software that can convert 512 byte sectors to 4 KB sectors, and even then the cloning software may not be able to convert the boot partition (which I don't like has happened). Your computer unbootable. Most modern hard drives have 4K physical sectors (like this one), but emulate 512 byte sectors for compatibility (some software is still only compatible with 512 byte sectors). This drive is not emulated which causes the above problems. With a clean install of Windows, the drive should be fine and run very fast, but cloning didn't work for me. Note, however, that other program compatibility issues may arise. My laptop is less than a year old and has a SATA SSD, so it's not just traditional hard drives. By the way, the lack of 512e can also affect the encryption and security of your hard drive. The popular encryption software VeraCrypt only supports 512 byte sectors, and I couldn't get Bitlocker to work properly after a clean install of Windows with this hard drive (it could have been user error, but I worked on it for several hours). I decided to return the drive, so I didn't try to backup the disk, but it's also possible that the lack of 512e also affects the ability to backup this disk to another disk with 512e, even if it does the case is backup drive has 4k physical sectors.
