Easy to clean, the system is amazing! A bit pricey for bulking but worth it

If you suffer from OCD, are a clutter lover, or even have faintly elevated functional anxiety with Type A overlays, then this is your new one System. This review was written after a retired US vet used this system with two adult cats for over six months. So my two cats have been using wood pellets their entire lives, 9 and 7 years. Because I've been using wood pellets for almost 20 years after getting so sick of the traditional kitty litter and the stains all over the house and the smell and the mess and being stuck between my toes and the gross thoughts of it. I researched a new toilet system in Spring 2020 because wood pellets and urine after a week are sometimes quite heavy on the bottom of the tray (the usual substitute for 3" fresh pellets) and the smell isn't always that great. I found this toilet system and thought they already use pellets so it wouldn't be a big deal to try and switch.First I left one of the old boxes and put one of the new boxes in. After a week I got some wood pellets in a new box to put in the scent as they have only used the new box a couple of times apparently as a tester. After about three weeks we completely switched to two new litter systems.I got the open top XL boxes because I am a 19 -pound collar that has trouble getting in and turning. And my 10 pound friend is a bit shallow and doesn't like surprises. Reasons why I bought this S System love: Easy to clean! I change my urine pads on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. And that's just a personal preference. I bought a large pack from Amazon here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JN9K83S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 but there are many others. I will switch to a cheaper brand (Amazon Basics) for my next purchase just because the odor control doesn't bother me as I change it every other day. And also the cost because I change them every other day. I've seen a few other reviews where others have washed/cooked the pellets to use again and I'll tell you I've tried this in a large cauldron (bought for this and now throwing it away) with bleach and then dried and for me The pellets just smelled like boiled urine. Not to mention the smell of boiling bleach, urine, and feces throughout the house for 30 minutes while it simmered on the stove. I'm not a fan of it, but to each their own. I will continue to subscribe to new pellets, save and get them chewable when they go on sale and pause S&S when needed. Now. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT! I. I really should apologize to my vet for this! When my two boys switched to this system. I panicked! I thought HOLY MOLY! My fucking choker pisses so much! I kept changing pads. I was afraid that something was wrong with my cat. He drank constantly and urinated constantly. Luckily, this system allows you to change the litter, clean the bowl and off the pad, and put your cat in a room alone to collect clean urine so you can take them to the vet for a check-up! And it turns out in the end. I have two very spoiled cats that drink from the faucet, they have fountains, they have fresh bowls daily, glacier water and a fresh dripper in the tub. And all that drinking fresh cold water all day (which is so good for cats) leads to a lot of urination! And if you're not used to seeing it on piss pads, then the crowd might alarm you! If you're used to throwing away old clinging clay debris or buckets of sawdust, you'll be happy to fold up a simple little block and throw it away. Things that will make this task easier for you. my kid, but they're about $5 at any flea market) that I use regular side dishes with. I use cheap dog food bags (you can get about 1000 bags for $10) and scoop out poo every night before bed. This appears to reduce the amount of granules wasted and the amount of poop odor. Then I throw a bag of feces on the diaper ghost. A day later, P/P/Sat, I also throw a piss pad in the diaper spirit. On the eve of Garbage Night, I empty the diaper ghost. It all works pretty well for our system here. If there is a problem with a poo stain somewhere, the Clorox wipe will clean up fairly quickly. That being said, I change the pellets as needed (once a month according to Amazon) or add more from S&S refill packs as needed.
