I purchased this item to use with a new Toyota Tacoma SR5 truck which has what is known as a 'USB port' on the dash. I intended (I hope) to use this to solve Toyota's really stupid decision to remove the wired 3.5mm aux-in port, and I hoped this would allow me to connect a digital MP3 player and audio could hear through my car speakers. The connection (with this cable) only works with an Apple product. Third-party MP3 players such as FiiO or Pyle or other non-Apple brands will not work. Apparently, Toyota has conspired with Apple to support Apple products.
