Firstly, the photos are so good that my colleagues asked me to share the details of my new lighting setup. All I did was replace the Sony A7II kit lens with this lens and shoot with it instead of my Canon T4i with a 17-55mm f/2.8 lens. He's beautiful and sharp. I usually shoot at f/2.8 or up to f/16. One thing I noticed is that when I switch to f/16 the color of the image changes completely and the distortion at the edge of the frame gets completely out of control. That's why I'm waiting for the release of the new Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 Art Lens. In my experience with Sigma Art lenses, distortion is minimal. Just take a look. One unexpected absolute win, but one that will make it hard for me to ever give up this lens, is the custom button. It has accelerated my workflow. Halve the recording time. With that one extra button, I was able to customize all the functions I used, so I didn't have to deal with a nightmare menu system while recording at all. Now I have all the patterns saved so I can change the type/focus points without looking at the camera. Since the Sigma doesn't have this, it might take me too long to shoot. Another advantage is the focus. I had both a Sony A7II and an A6300 (which I sold as a service, it's a great camera). The problem I had with both the cameras and their kit lenses was that the focus was extremely inconsistent. The camera smelled bad many times in a row and I had to take way more shots than I needed to make sure I had enough pictures. There were shots where literally nothing in the frame was in focus. G Master hasn't done this yet and I've taken 3000-5000 shots with it. The lens is excellent. Pros: - Amazing image quality - Precise focus - Good areas of blur - Haven't seen bokeh balls before but love how the background fades and the subject is isolated - Feels solid - Custom button - my favorite feature Cons - Heavy - called one reviewer a mushy one for complaining that you can't last fifteen minutes with this lens before your hands start to wear out. Well I lasted about six hours over two days before my hands started to burn. I was already used to the weight, but by the end of the second day my hands were literally on fire. - Distortion - At f/16, the distortion at the edges of the image is just ridiculous. Now I know I have to keep everything centered and trim. Correction in Adobe Lightroom and Capture One is totally unacceptable. Compared to the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Art or the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8, the distortion is just absurd. Crazy Colors. Picture. Confused my mind. The color shift that occurs when switching from f/2.8 to f/16 is acceptable since I'm using mixed light all the time, so just balancing the colors. However, if there is a shift without changing settings or moving, I just don't get it.
