They did their job but it was a bit scary and difficult to work with. The tape slipped slightly off center causing it to flex in the spindle. Not only did this cause it to get stuck, but the metal "guide" put enough pressure on the tape that I was afraid it would cut through it. Of course, this happened to him under load, which made him a little scarier. The hooks are excellent and gave this one an extra star, but the danger it put me in is holding it back. A wider, thicker strap that would stay centered would provide much more comfort and security. Also, it wasn't easy (perhaps?) to unbuckle the harness with one hand, making it difficult to wind the harness up the stairs. I'm still not entirely sure how to unlock it properly, but I managed to do a few things manually with two hands and finally got it to unlock.
