Review on Tubbs Snowshoes Flex Alp by Steve Brethorst

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to use and solidly built but a little bulky

My wife and I just got a couple of pairs of snowshoes this winter to hike the NH 48 (when there are fresh snow). She got MSR Lightening Ascend and I got Tubbs Flex Alp. Our impression after a couple of usage?- I love my Tubbs, works really well and comfortable to walk on. Very easy to put on and take off;- My wife loves her MSR, because it is lightweight, and works well when walking. She tried my Tubbs too and then she said she wish her MSR had same bindings as the Tubbs because those are much easier to use. Both are great snowshoes, I doubt you'd go wrong with either. To give a comparison of pros and cons:Tubbs Flex AlpPros: More solidly built; Bindings much easier to useCons: Heavier; Bindings bulkier - not as easy to carryMSR Lightning AscendPros: Lighter weight. Bindings fold flat, very easy to carry/fasten to backpack to carryCons: Seems less solidly built (no issues so far - so only time will tell). Bindings are not as easy to use

Pros
  • Work well in deep snow on inclines.
Cons
  • The price point of these snowshoes is quite high when compared to other similar snowshoes available in the market
