It may be a cliché, but common sense seems rare. Before I bought my FIRST Nuti Ninja as a family Christmas present last year, I was reading reviews of various products here on Revain and there seemed to be a common theme between the negative reviews, hygiene and leaks. After using my blender for almost 10 months I've come to this conclusion. #1 DO NOT OVERFLOW #2 CLEAN THE SEAL. I'm sure all of us have overfilled a regular blender at some point and the result is comedy-worthy material. When you break down a solid object into billions of pieces, it takes up more space. The mixer becomes a pressure vessel and the hydraulic forces find their way out. DO NOT overfill this or any blender. I also believe that if the base is cross-threaded it will not form a proper seal. If you look at reviews of ALL blender brands, you will see a common thread for all the negative comments. Are all blenders poorly designed? Most likely not. It seems more plausible to me that a certain percentage of people either ignore the directions or are in such a hurry that the container overflows. Of course, there is a chance that a single product is defective, but that happens regardless of the brand. The second major issue seemed to be cleanliness/hygiene. Not only is the ninja seal removable in my opinion, it is absolutely necessary that you do so, no amount of soap and water is cleaned around the seal, once you see how it's set up I'm sure you will will do it. agree. I assume they're brittle if you dig them up with a knife, but don't use the right tool. Again, this problem is not unique to ninjas, but many blenders. The seal on the Ninja is not an O-ring or flat gasket. This silicone gasket is 8mm wide and 1mm thick. Clean the seal and its seat. AND REPLACEMENT GASKETS ARE AVAILABLE if they become damaged over time, I have found many sellers online. At least once a week I use a dental tool to gently remove the sealant for a thorough cleaning. Once you pull out that seal and see how it's made, it will all make sense. So don't put too much stuff in it and take 5 minutes a week to clean the seal and you'll be golden. Now for the good. . For a personal blender in the maternity category, many of which sell for $200-$400, it's on the lower end of the price range, but seems to have good quality control and uses the same materials as more expensive models. The sides of the mixing bowl are thick, as are the stainless steel blades. Another feature I noticed was that the motor drive mates with the blade cover, the latter being made from a softer material that absorbs shock rather than transmitting it through the drive unit, reducing the chance of breakage. No, it's far from quiet, but the majority of the noise seems to come from the mixing process, not the motor itself. Air vents are a separate issue, of course. In summary; I've been using my Ninja for 10 months on average 6 days a week. I've added every food combination, from ginger root to grapes, yogurt to yucca, cucumber to cranberries, peanuts to passion fruit, and with the right solid to liquid ratio filled to the right level, I can honestly say I still have it never was no problem. I've come up with some nasty tasting concoctions that I'll never make again, but the Ninja still looks and works like new. I am a very skeptical buyer and was in a dilemma on which blender to buy. Every brand has been on the table, Oster Bruan Vitamix Jamba Juice Blendtec NutriBullet and believe me I have no problem returning a defective product but this little fella has given me no reason to say anything but good things. used by all people and chances are some will have bad experiences. Is the vast majority of people who like it and haven't had any problems wrong? Or is it more likely that the few who have had a bad experience for whatever reason are upset and screaming? Common sense will tell you the answer. Even Rolex has its critics. One last thing, the 32-ounce mug is a handy addition worth considering. I can easily make drinks for three at a time and I'm done with that. I received nothing in return for my review. I am in no way affiliated with this product. I am a 56 year old retired truck driver. I highly recommend this product.
