Review on πŸ§₯ TACVASEN Men's Special Ops Tactical Soft Shell Jacket: Superior Performance Coat for Military Operations by Mike Johnston

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Tactical soft shell. Not bad. Not for everyone.

For the money this is a decent soft shell. But it was created specifically and not for general use. And not for everyone. Pros: 1- Protects against light to moderate wind and rain for a short time and freezes quickly. 2- Pit zippers help with ventilation. 3- Adjustable hood tightens tightly. 4- Good closures on the cuffs. 5- High pockets for access when wearing a harness, gear or backpack with a wide waist belt. Attractively priced. (this is also a scam) 6- There are many companies selling essentially the same jacket. (It's based on a redundant military jacket design.) This is one of the more premium versions. Cons: 1- The main zipper is on the left side (not for US market). 2- No waterproof zippers. (Can't criticize it too much for this price) 3- No hand warmer pockets which are where you're probably used to. You'll find that you want to leave the long pocket zippers all the way down for easy access down where you're used to finding pocket holes. If you leave them open, everything falls out. There is no "well" pocket as the flash reaches the bottom of the pocket. You will drop your keys/phone. 6. The arms are too long so they gather over the (well made) velcro straps at the wrists. 7. This is a "slim/athletic" fit. Broad at the shoulders, narrow at the hips. Ideal if you are he-man. But then again, not for most of us. If you have an extra belly, you need to increase the size and deal with the extra space around the chest and shoulders. 8- The jacket's material is quite heavy, so the extra material on the shoulders and sleeves adds unnecessary bulk, especially with extra pockets and zippers. Not the best jacket for a backpack. 9. Finally, it's a "tactical" jacket, which can be a plus if that's what you want. All the velcro, extra zippers, and pockets aren't great for everyday wear or for people who don't want to stand out. They add weight and limit the use of the jacket. Overall this jacket is good for the track or trail when you know the weather is going to be chilly/wet. If you don't need patches and weird extra pockets, you might be better off looking for another budget-friendly soft hooded jacket, such as the B. Revain providers like Outdoor Ventures or Little Donkey Andy.
