Barely works. in seasonal decor

When I received it the box looked broken and re-taped like it had been sent back. The battery compartment was difficult to open and after inserting the batteries the light stopped burning. I had to hold onto it as I put the star on the tree and then not move it or the light would go out. Also, some lights are dim, some are bright. It's on my tree and looks ok, but it's not great.
