Windscreen leaves streaks in the rain

Tried this after years of using another product. The glass looked great until I drove in the rain - it seems to leave some sort of mark on the glass, leaving my windshield cloudy and streaky with every wiper swipe in the rain. At first I thought the wiper blades were outdated, I replaced them but to no avail. It took a few cleanings with a different product and lots of riding in the rain to get a clean windshield again.
