This Sony model has always been one of my favorite cameras. It is easy for anyone to use one of the automatic selections. Captures bright, clear photos and great videos. The menu system is intuitive. It has a Sony G lens which is a great lens. Focuses quickly, reloads something quickly so you can get that next shot (if you're using a Class 10 SDHC card). It's a bit thick so it might not fit in your pocket. Not made in China but made in Thailand. My only complaint is that if you're going to record a video and you press the video button a few seconds before you actually want to start filming, it won't start filming right away. I think my favorite dial setting is background blur - although your subject should be around 12 inches away, a blurred background can give you the same bokeh effect as you would with a DSLR.
