Update: Not a big fan after a month of using this filter. Button on top to change flow, hard to turn and painful to turn! In addition, the handle can be easily removed. The middle part for Biomax etc. Hardly anything fits in there, it's so small - I have to cut most of the available bags or make them myself. Knowing all this, I would probably get a different filter. The only good thing is that it's quiet and my loaches and pleco love to hide under it. Old review: It's submersible so if you say quiet it really is quiet with a powerful motor and various settings to increase flow if you want. There are small caps that direct the flow of water! Genius. Supplied with 2 filter foam pads. There's a BioMax in the midsection, but I'm sure you could put some charcoal in there if you wanted to. I've tried Aquaclear, Fluval (both claim to be the best but have impeller issues and are very noisy) and Aqueon Quietflow and it really is the best there is, so quiet and works great. It's a little big and the instruction manual etc is vague but you understand with common sense. You can rotate this filter horizontally or vertically. Pisces love it - I'm so happy with it.
