RAM used matching connectors for all model years BUT for some strange reason in recent years they have reversed the polarity of the male/female connector housing between the car wiring harness and the tailgate ( possibly). Stromberg Carlson lists the VCD-0053 model for RAM 2017+ and the VCD-0043 model for 2013-2016. Their website states that you should "use the image shown when selecting your camera model to ensure it is compatible with the connector base on the side of your vehicle". THIS STATEMENT IS NOT BILATERAL. This can be interpreted as an image from the side of the car wiring harness or as an image of the connector on the camera. The correct answer is… IN THE PHOTO WHAT THE CAMERA IS FOR SALE. I just bought the VCD-0053 for my 2017 RAM (3-17 build, not an early model year) and it turns out I need the VCD-0043. Bottom line: CAREFULLY CHECK THE POLARITY OF THE PLUG and understand from the pictures that you are looking at the tailgate side connector that matches the camera you are planning to purchase. An error in the statements… Does not match the statements, default FRONT and FROM NETWORK LINE. You must SNIP the white and green wires respectively to activate the rear-facing setup and activate the grid lines. The description is correct when connected; It's just that they are connected and not disconnected as the instructions say. The VCD-0043 model fits my 2017 RAM harness connector and works fine.
