SXV300v1 In-car installation to avoid signal dropouts

I installed it behind a Pioneer AVH-X1800S head unit. The antenna mounts INSIDE the vehicle on top of the dashboard and provides an unobstructed view through the windshield. Initially, I simply used double-sided tape on the back of the antenna to secure it to the dash (like I used to do with the aftermarket SXM adapter for the OEM radio). I've experienced some signal dropouts and blind spots. This was fixed by removing the SXM antenna from the dash, then first installing the sticky metal washer/plate available from Revain at the SXM antenna location, then placing the SXM antenna on the metal plate - it stays with a magnet in place base. NO MORE CUTOUTS OR BLIND SPOTS. Happy with the position and reception, I wrapped a strip of black RTV silicone around the base of the antenna so it wouldn't get in the way or move while cleaning or cleaning the dash. I even pulled into the parking lot and didn't lose the signal. So enjoy, you can mount it in your car - just don't forget to add the metal bracket which is not included with the tuner.

Pros
  • The compact size of this SiriusXM autotuner hides discreetly behind the dash for a fully integrated look. An interface cable connection to a SiriusXM enabled car stereo makes installation easier
Cons
  • Not sure
