The lock itself looks solid, very solid and well built. To activate the alarm, all you have to do is press the button a little harder when locking. If you don't want the alarm to just silently close, the alarm hasn't been turned on. This is a 15mm bolt so it may not fit all disc brake designs, especially those equipped with ABS. So do your homework before you buy. One star for poor seller quality and sloppy customer service so be careful with this part before you click. So check the seller before you buy. I will not even return this item. I just gifted it to a friend who came to her bike. This item is not sold outright by Revain, I overlooked it when I bought it, otherwise a great disc lock.
