Handheld Amp Dyno!: Tester

Test the power delivery of everything from small Class-T amplifiers to home theater receivers and powerful car audio amplifiers! I've used my AMM-1 to test a lot of car amps and I love being able to take it with me and use it to measure the performance of friends' amps. see the actual power going to your speakers using test signals! It also measures AC and DC voltage, including voltage drop for charging systems during startup or bass tones, or even the amount of AC your microwave is using! I also have an older brother AD-1 Amp Dyno and the AMM-1's price and portability make it much more affordable for audio enthusiasts. To measure the power delivered to a reactive load (speaker) you need to consider the power factor. The AMM-1 performs this calculation in real time based on the resistive load of your speaker and the frequency being tested (by calculating the phase difference between voltage and current). Simply ingenious technology! In dyno mode, the AMM-1 draws power up to the limit and then holds the resulting figure (up to 15,000 watts). I recently tested an old Phoenix Gold MS-2125 car amp with this AMM-1 and Infinity Perfect. Subwoofer 12VQ. It was really cool to see how much power actually goes to the speaker and when it clipped (nearly 500 watts). I also have an AD-1 amp dyno from SMD, but I prefer the portability of the AMM-1 and the ability to use it with speakers to give the amps a "real" look. Laboratory tests with resistors often show the best scenario for an amplifier. If you use the AMM-1 and your speakers, you know how much power your amplifier is putting into your speakers. In my opinion this is one of the most useful tools in the audio and testing field! They are also handcrafted in the USA.
