These phones are perfect for us! We have 6 additional phones on top of the base. You can plug it in anywhere there is a power socket, you just need to plug the main base into a phone socket, the rest you can take anywhere. Cellar, garage, every room. My biggest gripe with these phones is that you might think that a phone that first "looks for the base" when setting it up will also read the phone numbers programmed into the base. You must program each phone individually. That can be annoying! But the quality and clarity of the phones are excellent. They work great for intercoms around the world or individually if you're looking for a specific family member. You can also transfer a call from one handset to another and hang up the first handset! This is an amazing feature. The second handset will ring until you reach it.
