This is a disposable mask - a fact not mentioned in the ad. It's listed on a tiny print on the product packaging. You can replace the white particle pads, but the solvent filter canisters are NON-REMOVABLE so you discard the mask when the main color/solvent cartridges are used up. For a little more, you can buy a reusable respirator that can hold different types of filter cartridges. Visit the 3M website and carefully compare respirators, features and uses before purchasing. Write down the EXACT model number - there are often several similar (but different) models that are distinguished by a letter or number. Their product line is top notch, but their selection, filter packs and similar models are extremely confusing.
