Review on Master Tailgaters Chrome Tailgate Handle with Backup Camera - Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra (1999-2006) Replacement by Joe Patterson

Works well but could be better

First of all this is quite a unique product. I haven't found many tailgate handle cam options for the 2005 Silverado 2500HD. The material of construction appears to match the factory ring, but the assembly fit is sloppy at best. It doesn't seem that difficult to hold the plastic clips in place. I didn't want to let that happen, so I smeared four tabs with silicone. Zero movement after drying. Also of note is that the foam pads glued to the sides (mine was missing one side) are too thick and keep the sides of the ring away from the body. I almost cut them in half and again but there was a piece of silicone left on the gasket. The cable coming out the back of the camera was long enough to go straight down and through the drain hole. That's all. Connection directly between bumper and tailgate. Ideally, this cable should be 6-12 inches longer so that this connection can at least be hidden at the bottom/back. On a white truck, the black wire is hard enough to camouflage, not to mention a bulkier connection. In general, the camera works fine. Don't expect 4K resolution or you will be disappointed. Again, I didn't find many options for this app. So with a little more work I'm happy with it.
